Not yet coded. I do however need a coder for this one since my skills of HTML on DA Journals aren't that great. Give me a message if you have the guts to code it, I will be greatly thankful for your hard work. Once the design and coding are complete, I plan on having it released to the world where everyone (that is subscribers and above ) can use it.
In the mean time, critique my design so I can make it better.
Update: Minor aspects have been changed in the design including less space in the title, less of a shadow on headers and some other tiny works. Beyond that includes the addition of a footer. And of course, a preview of the design without the sidebar with a different showcase.
I was so sad to see this was only a concept design, but luckily by the time I had found this =awellis had taken the time to code your brilliant design, brining this lovely Journal CSS to life. This is definitely one of the sleekest designs I've seen and the moment I saw it I knew I wanted to use it.
The no sidebar version is my favorite. My only advice would be to add more icons other than just the folder and gallery icon. The quote design you have is really superb, and something I hadn't thought about adding to my journal until I saw it in your design.
Not sure what to say about the sidebar version. Normally I enjoy more options, but the no sidebar version is just so sleek and well-designed, the sidebar just seems unnecessary. The design is good though. What probably turns me off from the sidebar version is the space is already cramped and the sidebar just makes it worse. I suppose if the sidebar version maintained the full width a journal allows it would be a lot better.
Hi EasyDisplayName! In first I really need to tell you that I will use this when get coded. Over viewing it is pretty awesome but, when you check the details, I found some leaking things. I'll start form top to bottom, looking to a common header in a deviantpage, and comparing it to yours, you can see that the user name and his picture doesn't need to be displayed again on the journal template, 'cause its already there, near, some pixels ahead. It looks great here, and would if this template could go on others sites that don’t show your user name or your pic. Those three buttons (follow, hover and note) goes very well and aligned with de context body, looks perfect! The space for the Title, its, some kind over, I don't know, looks like you tried to match the size with the right column to look more symmetric, and will be hard to size down it I guess, but if you could, it would be great, cause it have so much blank space to another text, and our eyes get busy with another things until we began to read the text, distracting us from the point. So there below goes the main text of the journal, nice placed everything good here. The Sub Header goes very well too. The visual concept of deviantart here applied, you done it very well I must say.
Just last few words, with the stamp place and the random people, I guess its personal, but, my point here, its that you could switch place of them, you see there's one stamp "per paragraph" and three friends on a line, people used to place (in most cases) more stamps than friends icon, and on this example, you show 'featured users', and it's would be better showing peoples icons than stamps at the right of the text, stamps could distract them from the featured deviants, and showing friends, you will promote them too, will look featured too. Remember, our eyes read from left to right top to bottom, so when some one finish from read a line of your featured deviants, they quickly look to your right column before start to read the next line or next picture.
Just finishing, I hope it get coded soon, I can't wait to use it!
